Overall a fun ride of a family fighting together which is refreshing and interesting. You don't have to worry about some forced romance, well at least up to where I have read that is.You get all the standard abilities, classes, spells, monsters, etc. but mixed in with good ole sibling grief and love of each other. Plus a great first chapter which sets the tone for a fast action packed story.Story is tight, pacing isn't sluggish at all and there is plenty of action and monsters to fulfill any reader's monster killing thirst. I do wish we had a little more time spent on the class selecting section, but that is literally my only complaint story wise. The author has great style, so I feel bad taking a half star off, but hear me out. The hand-crafted and beautiful descriptions are written throughout the story that paint a wonderful portrait in your mind. But, I do prefer seeing through one character's eyes vs being able to see through the different character's perspective. I think if we had just stayed in David's perspective the entire time it would work better. This doesn't detract at all from the story. This is just more a personal preference.I didn't see any grammar issues and the story reads fluidly, so no deducts there.Besides the story, characters is where this truly shines. Each character is distinct and that is made clear from the start. There are a lot of them thrown at you right at first but the author does a good job slowly building up their personalities and diving deeper as you go. On top of that, the interactions between them are handled well.Great story, 5 of 5 recommend!

This story is fast paced and engaging right from the start! It's great for anyone who looking for a tower climber or just an exciting litrpg.Style 4.5/5: It's very engaging and easy to read. The POV is fluid, shifting perspective between characters as necessary to give us a full view of what's going on. Sometimes the shifting between POVs could be a little hard to follow, but it was never a detractor from the story. There's a good amount of description to place us right in the dungeon with the characters.Grammar 5/5: Perfect. I didn't notice any errors!Character 5/5: All four siblings are fun to read about and have their own unique personalities. It's interesting to see them all grow as the story progresses, both emotionally and through the system. The supporting characters they run into do a great job portraying the magic and power of the tower.Story: This story starts off with a bang, and the action continues on strong through the later chapters. The system design is cool and fun to read about. I like seeing things unfold from multiple perspectives which helps flesh out the plot.Overall 5/5: Such a fun read! I highly recommend it to anyone who wants a fast-paced story!

This book is a great family adventure with no forced romance, at least in the parts I've read. It has all the usual elements like powers, classes, spells, and monsters, yada, yada, ya... The family thing does make this book different from most other stories in the same genre. The way familial relationships are depicted is not unique in any way. However, it is not a bad thing. You can expect what you are getting without jump scares. The first chapter sets the pace, and the story moves accordingly. So, good pace. The story moves smoothly with a fair amount of actions and new genre-specific items (monsters, powers, artifacts, etc). So, if you are here for litrpg. You won't be disappointed. The writing style is good and decent, nothing to complain. The perspective thing is obviously a choice that the author prefers. I am not a huge fan of it, but it is fine. It does not hinder my experience. There are no grammar issues, and the story flows well. The characters are well-developed and distinct. There is nothing to complain about.

A solid start to a tower climber series (although it starts with a drop, not a climb). Four siblings work to survive a tower climb together, taking on fairly iconic party roles in order to do so, but each with a twist; elemental knight instead of fighter, shadow assassin instead of rogue, etc. They aren't children, for the most part, ages 16 and up, although the youngest acts younger. The tower and story have a harsher vibe, bordering on grimdark at points, but there is a sense that greatness awaits if you can make it through everything.

An interesting and fun new entry into the tower climber genre. The story starts off fast, jumping straight into the action and setting up future plot points and hooks. As a fan of litRPGs and tower climbers, I instantly knew that I would enjoy it and be along for the ride.It follows the children in a family after they get separated from their parents because of an invasion of orcs, and are then thrust into a tower. Each member of the family has a distinct personality and the author does a great job characterizing them throughout the initial chapters. The setting is what you would expect from a tower climber. That is, a tower. But it keep things interesting and new in many ways. The setting outside of the tower seems like a mix of modern and fantasy, with the main character using a car to drive over orcs to get out of town. I gotta say, I've never read about orcs being run over by a car before, and I like it!There are some grammatical errors, but nothing egregious, and nothing that an editor won't fix. Just the occasional missing comma. But no one reads stories for the grammar, they read for the story and characters, and this story has got both in spades.Chapters end on engaging hooks that keep me wanting to read more. Overall, I recommend anyone reading this review to give the novel a shot.

"Towers of Ascension" is an interesting blend of action and fantasy. It's focus is - wait for it - tower climbing. Familiar genre tropes and fantasy elements are on point, but it's the heartfelt moments that really breathe life in it.The characters are super relatable, each with their own strengths and weaknesses, which makes them feel real and compelling. The writing really pulls you in, making you feel the fear and intensity of the monster invasions. The plot moves quickly with lots of twists and turns that keep you hooked as the siblings tackle the deadly challenges of Amareth’s tower.Watching the characters grow into their combat roles adds an exciting layer to the story, with plenty of character development and dynamic interactions. As for grammar and style, those are on point too, with descriptions that make the settings and action scenes come alive. The dialogue feels natural and really helps build emotional connections, especially the family bonds that drive their survival instincts and decisions. All in all, "Towers of Ascension" grabs you from the first page and doesn't let go.If you love tower climbing and action-packed stories that don't shy away from getting real with emotionally-driven, complex characters, I say you have to give it a go!

Overall:The story has a gripping start, creating a sense of tension and dread right from the opening scenes. The chaotic invasion of monsters and the family’s struggle to survive is deeply immersive. The narrative successfully pulls the reader into the frantic atmosphere of the town under siege. There’s a clear transition from the panic of immediate danger to the looming mystery of the Tower of Amareth, which opens up exciting possibilities for the plot's development. The blend of survival, family dynamics, and the dark fantasy world provides a solid foundation for what could become a thrilling adventure.Grammar:The writing is mostly fluid but there are a few sentences that could benefit from more clarity or reworking for smoother readability. Overall, nothing too distracting, but refinement will elevate the overall quality.Story:The plot is engaging and filled with tension. The stakes are high from the start, with the family’s escape and their entry into the Tower. The story promises a mix of horror, action, and mystery, with the monsters and the appearance of the tower setting the stage for a deep dive into an unknown world. While this chapter is more action-focused, it sets up intriguing questions about the Tower of Amareth, the nature of the monsters, and the mysterious summoning that happens toward the end.Character:The family dynamic is believable, and each family member’s reactions are authentic, ranging from Will’s stoic resolve to Crystal’s subtle fear, and David’s reluctant leadership. The kids, especially Zoey and Chloe, offer a nice range of perspectives that reflect their youth and vulnerability in the face of danger. There’s a strong emotional core to the story that comes from the family’s relationship, which helps ground the fantasy elements. However, the characters could benefit from deeper internal monologues to flesh out their personalities further.Style:The author has a good sense of pacing, balancing action and dialogue well. The style leans towa

I really like the premise of the book! The siblings are lively and distinct, each bringing something different to the table in terms of personality. I can easily see readers gravitating toward certain siblings as favorites, while perhaps disliking others, which I think is a good thing. It creates space for interesting discourse and different opinions among readers. It’s always fun when a book sparks that kind of discussion. While the beginning does feel a bit confusing, it doesn’t last long. Things pick up fairly quickly, and soon enough, the characters are thrown right into the action, being thrust into the tower. Personally, I would’ve appreciated seeing more hesitation or confusion from the siblings when everything started happening. A bit more apprehension would have added another layer of realism to the situation, at least in my opinion. But, overall, it doesn’t take away from the story, and that’s just my personal take. I’m really excited to see how their powers develop and what kinds of challenges they’ll face as they progress through the tower. It will be interesting to watch how their abilities diverge and grow, and how the dynamics between the siblings change as the story goes on. It’s definitely shaping up to be an enjoyable read!

Overall - This is an incredibly entertaining read! It begins in a modern world being overtaken by monsters, and right off, we feel the genuine emotional impact of the attack. The author shows the gruesome outcome of the creatures as our heroes hurry to escape the scene. The tension and urgency is felt in a big way right from the start.Style - The flow is great. It starts intensely and continues to feel that way until our main characters are in a place that implies a certain amount of safety, where the author does a great job of slowing things down and allowing us as the readers a breather before going right into the next conflict.Story - The story is interesting, especially because it brings creatures and monsters into the modern world right off. They are ones we already know, which is exciting as there is not a learning curve before you can get into it. There is a certain part of hitting one with their car that I thought was pretty funny - and this story definitely sprinkles humor throughout, which I think any great story should do!Grammar - A couple of things here and there, but the author was completely open to feedback and adjusting accordingly. Nothing significant was noticeable and did not hurt the story or flow.Characters - I always enjoy taking a look a the characters. In this story there are four main ones: David, Zoey, Chloe, and Elisha. Although, in my mind, David is definitely the star of the show. Their progression begins right away, and their reactions to it are very organic. Their dialogue is believable and natural, which often makes or breaks a good book.Again, overall, I would certainly recommend this one, as it was a very easy and entertaining read. The connection you feel with the characters and events really draws you in, and personally, I cannot wait to see what other monsters our heroes have to face as we go.

Style: It's descriptive enough so we can have a great picture of locations, character designs and actions. My only gripe is the occcasional repetition of words and odd wording one time. Other than that, it's great.Story: Apparently, the story takes place on a modern world with fantasy aspects until it all comes crashing down on humanity at once. The tower lore thus far is pretty interesting and brimming with potential. The fight scenes and monster encounters are pretty well made as well. Also, what was that Ian Somerhalder name drop?! Is The Vampire Diaries canon in this world?! I want to know his story with the dungeon!Grammar: I found a few typos in the first chapters, but there was nothing too distracting, thankfully.Characters: The problem with stories that introduce so many characters at once is that the development and characterization sometimes only shines on a select few. Unfortunately, that is the case here.Of all the siblings, only David was the one with a solid character and motives for me. Even so, I didn't feel all that attached with his "burden of being the oldest" storyline. However, since I've only read the first five chapters, it is highly possible to be temporary.Overall, a solid story with a premise that works pretty well on Royal Road's readerbase. If you are an LitRPG fanatic (why would you come here, otherwise?), this is definitely a story for you!
