Do you like xianxia of the spirit-cultivating variety? 'Course you do, it's a tentpole genre of web serials at this point. Internalize power and knowledge, externalize results. It's like if school worked as advertised.Do you like character depth? 'Course you do, you're a reader of distinction and taste. Layered characters provide a helpful framework for all those lovely powers and abilities to hang on between life-or-death confrontations with beasts and men.Do you like ancient Egypt or a fantastical facsimile thereof? 'Course you do, it's got haunted tombs, slick monsters, and the crushing weight of millennia to draw from.Do you like stories about a protagonist exploring the depth of his personal ideals of duty and responsibility, all while grappling with the concept that his latent loyalty might be used as a lever to move him across the game board of state? How about all of the above?Good news, friend! You're already there.Salesman mode aside, I like Heshtat as a leading man and his bromance with Maatkare is great. Plus I'm a sucker for cultivation novels that use a different background than the semi-standard Daoist East Asian potpourri.

An engaging fantasy with a deep and interesting mythology. Contains jokes, demons, and sand.I have binged the story over the past few days and enjoyed it greatly. Well-written combat, likeable characters, crisp plot, and enigmatic gods. What else do you need in an Egyptian cultivation story?I look forward to reading more when the next chapter arrives.
