Risens is the king’s assassin and he does what the king wants. Too bad what the crown wants is all meaningless. But Risens doesn’t have much choice but to follow orders. In a world of Brands, he is one of the few Brandless, lacking a special power granted by the Shrines. Year after year, he returns to the Shrines for a brand. Year after year, he walks away empty handed, and forced to fight powerful opponents with his wits, skills and daggers. One day, all that changes. Risens will finally get a chance for Brand, one that is a mystery, but could give him the power of a god. No more will he fight for kings and tyrants.
